Wow, most of this (except the ending theme, but that's because it originally used the CUS30) sounds almost identical to the arcade version. I have a feeling Toshimitsu Kawano just directly copied the data...
I'm HarmoDevil. Formerly Dr Devil, but I still use the drdevil username here.

Check out my Soundcloud.

I might get back to VGM ripping someday.

The difference between the arcade version is the Area 1 and Area 6.
The arcade version of Area 1 is unfinished version, X68000 version is the complete version (OST version).
The arcade version of Area 6 is the wrong loop.
Toshimitsu Kawano has created the data in the by ear(Data of the arcade board is not used).

For info, the Oki is only used for sound effects in a couple of tunes (Credits, Ending, Last Scene With Voice).

The percussions in all music tracks are entirely FM.

Nope. The sound driver has been ported directly from the arcade version. The music is basically the same but with some changes (As mentioned, the "New version" Area 1 theme is present, some panning have been added to the other tracks).

Also, interestingly, the "Midnight loading" theme IS present in the arcade version, but it cannot be played without hacking as it is not referenced in the song table.

QuattroPlay now supports playback of the X68000 music data. Just copy "DSMUSIC.DAT" from the X68000 image. (You still want ds1_s0.bin from the arcade version, for the WSG sounds)
