How do I install GME (Game Music Emulator) for VLC??

Post by Apocalypse612 »

Hello there.

Taken directly from your VGM Players page
VLC media player (multiplatform, uses Game Music Emu as a decoder)
It seems that there is a severe lack of information on the internet on how to actually get this working. Can someone help me out with this, please? I have the latest version of VLC. What do I do?

Thanks in advance!

It either works out-of-the-box or it won't work at all.

The version of Game Music Emu used by VLC (and many other players) is from 2006 and supports only uncompressed VGMs that use SN76489 and YM2612. (and maybe YM2413?)
Anything else won't work.

I read that it had to be enabled during the build, or some such manner. I've attempted to use it on one album from your site (Renegade [Arcade], .vgz format) and it simply maxed out my CPU and crashed.

I wish someone would update it for VLC!
