I've had this file in storage since 2004. It was sent to me by a friend, who in turn found it shared on Sonic the Hedgehog fan forums and traced its origin back to a Japanese homepage (Geocities, Angelfire or similar) that hosted half a dozen low-bitrate recordings of FM (OPLL) covers they had made. The covers included music from Streets of Rage, Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest and Sonic the Hedgehog, leading me to believe that this is also most likely a cover of something from a video game, possibly something from PC88, PC98, X68000 or FM Towns, though that's only a best guess, it could be original music.

There's also this song which is also unidentified and sent to me only this morning by the same friend. I haven't put it on YouTube (yet.) It sounds suspiciously like Yuzo Koshiro to my ears.
