Arcade SCSP samples extracted with Audacity

Post by IG2004 »

I'm new to the vgmrips forum. Sometimes I like to extract samples from games with Audacity, but when I extract samples from a Sega SCSP game, for example, Sega Rally Championship, it sounds a bit fuzzy. In the actual game they sound normal. I would post mpr-17756.31 from that game but for some reason I can't add attachments to this forum, so if you want to find out, open it in Audacity as a Signed 8-bit PCM, mono, 22050 hz. Does anyone know why SCSP samples are like this?

MAME has the SCSP ROMs byte swapped in some cases. i.e. The bytes "0 1 2 3 4 5" are stored as "1 0 3 2 5 4".
You will to byte swap the ROMs again and then the quality should improve.
