To be fair, the chatbox seems to rely on javascript, and since I usually keep javascript disabled, I never saw it at all until now that I actively tried to do so. Furthermore, that javascript might even be nonstandard, because I had to try three different browsers until I found one which worked. So yeah, now I saw the chatbox for the first time ever, and it wasn't as trivial as one might expect, so I can see where that guy is coming from, maybe he disabled javascript like I do, or he uses an unsupported browser.

And this is one of the reasons why I'm happy I kinda left the site. It took me 3 browsers to find one which supports the chat box, but no, you have to be right. Ok.

Chatbox yields a 503:

Request URL: https://vgmrips.net/socket.io/socket.io ... 0288042030
Request Method: GET
Status Code: 503 Service Unavailable
Remote Address: 86.121.10.123:443

Side note, is there a vgmrips (or closely related) Discord server?

No but there is an IRC server at irc.digibase.ca #vgmrips. It's usually connected to the chatbox, and when the chatbox isn't working the IRC (almost) always works. We have no plans to open a vgmrips discord now.

I suggest to add this piece of CSS to player.css

Code: Select all

#player {
    position: sticky;
    top: 0px;
    background: #222;
    padding: 2px;
    margin: -2px;
    z-index: 1;
}
