I got this weird error message when trying to play the set in the latest version of Audio Overload:

Apparently the game uses an 8 MB sample ROM and AO can't handle that.
Most games use only 4 MB, I think, so maybe AO is hardocded to that ROM size.

VGMPlay/in_vgm don't have any limitations on the QSound ROM size and I think that having such a limitation is a bug of Audio Overload.

The music come off as extremely messed-up, with the wrong instruments.

Was the Winamp plugin updated recently or something? Or is the pack low quality compared to the actual arcade soundtrack?

It looks like you need at least VGMPlay/in_vgm 0.40.9 with superctr's QSound core for proper playback.
MAME QSound emulation seems to be broken with this pack in VGMPlay 0.40.x. (VGMPlay 0.50 and later works fine with either core.)

Is there a link to it? I have in_vgm 0.40.6 instead and my Google Fu appear to be weak (latest link I can find is 0.40.6).

I assume, the QSound core you need to use with this VRC6 pack is here. Install it in the same directory as VGMPlay.
