Hi all,
just stumbled across the Commodore TED Chip (MOS 7360/8360) which seems to be the most simple "PSG", even simpler than the dead simple SN76849. Two square waves and little bit of noise ... Nevertheless a lot of really good music was composed for it - and the best part: it is already collected by TED fans, so converting could be a batch job:
"High Voltage TED Collection" - ready to get played by emulators

... but unfortunately it isn't part of the VGM specification.
Raw register ripping for VGM could be possible with tools like "tedsid2dump" (https://solhsa.com/soloud/tedsid.html) or by enhancing multiplatform tools like cRTED (https://plus4world.powweb.com/tools/cRTED).
Would be really nice, if the TED could be part of the VGM family!

Re: [Request] [VGM Format] Add Commodore TED
I'm really not a fan of just mirroring existing collections as another format.
Some people already put a large amount of work into building that collection and made good players for it, so I don't see why vgmrips should duplicate that work in an inferior way.
This is why I did not approve the SID sound chip so far.
(And Mao should concentrate on getting the recently added sound chips to work with the existing VGM tools, IMO.)

hmm, it's not the collection, it's the format, in fact the HVTC files are just 6502 assembly code for Commodore computers with the music. Without special emulators and tools you can't listen to the music, VGM is more generalized ... it's not necessary to convert the whole HVTC collection to VGM, but it would be nice, if it would be possible to preserve and spread TED music as VGM files ...
