I've been building my own sample libraries for a while now, focusing mainly on GBA and NDS ROMs. So far, my go-to tools have been VGMTrans and GBAMusRiper, which work great for extracting sequences and creating .sf2 / .sfz files or raw .wav dumps.
However, I want to expand my horizons and explore other consoles. I'm looking to dive into Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, PS1, N64, PS2
I am particularly hunting for short VOX/vocal samples, SFX, and raw instrument samples that have that distinct hardware crunch (around 18kHz - 32kHz, not necessarily pristine CD quality, but clean and intelligible).
Could you recommend any reliable tools, trackers, scripts, or specific emulator plug-ins/sound loggers that allow extracting audio data from these systems? I want to avoid standard line-in recording if possible and get the cleanest direct rips/files.
Any guidance, tools, or documentation would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
