This is very cool.

Is the opening song recorded for this game? It seems to be the same name as a popular song in japan, but the popular version is a happier thing than this sad gem. The lyrics seem different too, except at the end.

Yeah, that gets mixed up but I can confirm you that the only thing they share is the title. The composer commentary states how this track is more optimistic than the later version of the theme song for Windows and iOS. I did ask him about how the theme song was able to be played back on FMPPlay, which enables PCM playback on the YM2151, and he told me a programmer was able to do it but he doesn't remember the name of the programmer.
