Track 21 has a custom loop, to match variants
used in various Gradius games.

A lot of things was later re-used in Gradius
games, such as some of the enemies, the unusual
Shield system (the scooter can act as the front
shield from Gradius, while the Barrier can act
like Force Field from Gradius II), some of the
scenery and at least, one music. This game was
released before Gradius, meaning that is one of
many related games from the Gradius franchise
(another example is Scramble).
