The BIOS of the Family Computer Disk System is a special software that manages the Disk System functions, as well as checks if the game is licensed by Nintendo or not.
With no disk inserted, the BIOS plays a tune, and eventually shows some animations of the Mario Bros. switching the "lights" On or Off.
