For those that research possible hardware compatibilities, here's an interesting bit.
The SN76496 or SN76489 chip that's used in Sega Master System (and many, many other places) is the very same that Tandy/PCjr machines had. That's well known.
Sierra On-Line's King's Quest, Police Quest, Space Quest and Leisure Suit Larry (among others) series support the Tandy chip, not so popular back in the '80s, readily available now, thanks to DOSBox / ScummVM emulators. That's also common knowledge.
What's not so well known is that Sierra AGI interpreter's sound format, using (reverse ordered) SN76489 bytes pretty much directly, is (almost) exactly compatible with VGMs meant for that chip. So - given memory and some timing issues - any VGM can be used in a homebrew Sierra AGI game.
I'll be posting some VGM-to-AGI conversion tools on the sciprogramming.com forum, for those curious.
Just thought someone might find it interesting. ^^/
