Phantom 2040

Okay, third pack of the year completed, and
this one is of Phantom 2040, which is a
metroidvania that is based off the animated
series with the same name and that is loosely
based off on the comic strip "The Phantom".
I've never played the game myself, but what I
can say is the soundtrack for the Genesis
version is absolutely freaking insane! This
game goes for more of industrial metal here
and they just went to town on it with some
crazy sounds that even though it's the epitome
of Genesis twang, it fits into the context of
the game really well, seeing as you're in a
dangerous, post-apocalyptic future.

I did say version earlier, because there was
also a Super Nintendo version of the game as
well, and even though that version's OST
doesn't get as crazy as this one, it's
still pretty good. There was also a Game Gear
version, though that is a completely different
game all together. This was logged using
r57shell's GEMS Jukebox which is also a way
where I found some unused tracks in the game.
The last two tracks were also in the SNES
soundtrack, although they went unused too, as
Track 24 here was also the Game Over theme in
the prototype of the SNES version. And for
Track 22, that is used for the Title Theme
for the SNES version that goes completely
unused in the Genesis version. For those last
two tracks, they had no set tempo for them,
so I had to manually adjust it so that they'll
sound closer to the set tempo of their SNES
counterparts. Anyhow, enjoy to some of most
aggressive and craziest scores on the Genesis!
