Brandish 3: Spirit of Balcan

Brandish 3 is the pinnacle of Falcom's FM synth
period, just an absolutely massive soundtrack.
After this Falcom would split focus between FM
and midi

SSG balance has been adjusted down about
-2.2db from the original logs. This value was
taken from MaliceX's Grounseed pack, which very
closely matches hardware recordings on the -86
board

Track notes:
some track names may include bad characters

Track 3: Normally drowned out in storm sfx, I
kept the sfx at the start then faded it out, in
line with the CD release (though the CD version
has a fuller mix utilizing the full polyphony)
track 13: This track is just sfx. I did my best
with the loop

Hand fixes and alterations:
RSS issues: tracks 14 & 19 have RSS volume
issues fixed by hand. Tracks 5 & 41 have broken
RSS looping, this was fixed as well

To improve audio quality with emulators,
redundant volume commands were removed to
reduce 'pops'. This is very safe. Most commands
removed were within 6 samples (<0.2ms) of each
other, and entirely redundant

Less safe (and therefore more selective) was
the process of 'jamming' commands against
keyons to reduce pops when drum patches change.
This was done on tracks 2, 11, 17, 25, 29, 42,
43, 45, and 55. This has great results with
emulators, but it results in up to 5 additional
register writes between wait commands (4 TL
cmds + algorithm). If this causes problems with
hardware playback let me know
