English translation:
1789.
As the Kansei Reformation overwhelmed the 
general populance, one devilish soul 
returned from the Netherworld, bringing 
forth a grand conflagration of disaster, 
destruction, and death. 
The castle that appeared, shaking the 
earth with its emergence, 
wreaked havoc with the innocent inhabitants 
of Shimabara. As if beckoned into action, 
there were those who readied 
themselves for battle,those who 
materialized from their respective 
lands to contend with destiny.

かくして天草四郎時貞は滅び、
島原は平穏を取り戻した。
だが災厄の爪跡は大きく、島原における死者は、
三町五十六村で三千人という大惨事となり、
かつての姿を取り戻すにはかなりの年月を必要とする事となろう……。

Kakushite Amakusa Shirou Tokisada wa horobi, 
Shimabara wa heion wo torimodoshita.
Daga saiyaku no tsumeato wa ookiku, 
Shimabara ni okeru shisha wa, 3 cho 56 son de 
3000 nin to iu daisanji to nari, 
katsute no sugata wo torimodosu 
niwa kanari no nengetsu wo 
hitsuyou to suru koto to narou...

English translation:
Thus Shiro Tokisada Amakusa perished, 
and Shimabara regained peace. However, 
the scourge was so great that the death toll 
in the three towns and fifty-six villages 
in Shimabara was 3,000 in total, 
and it would take many years for the 
island to regain its former appearance...
