Note: Not to be confused with the Game Boy game of the same name. This is a port of the original Darius.
Sagaia, known in Japan as Darius II (ja: ダライアスII) is a shoot em 'up developed by Taito and released in 1989 across the globe.
Ports of this game were mostly released for Sega systems, including
- the Sega Mega Drive (developed by Taito itself, but with a sound driver by Cube)
- the Sega Master System (developed by Natsume, and only released in Europe)
- the Sega Saturn (developed by I.T.L and only released in Japan and Europe)
It was also released on the PC Engine CD-ROM² System as Super Darius II, boasting an enhanced soundtrack, but still bearing the same choppy play as it had in Darius Plus/Alpha/Super Darius.
Unlike their predecessor, Sagaia runs on a dual monitor cabinet in most regions. The Japanese versions use a 3-monitor cabinet setup, similar to Darius.
Darius and Darius II were not the only two games released by Taito that use two monitors for playing. Ninja Warriors and Warrior Blade are two another examples.
